Jack Van Ost was undoubtedly a visionary, someone who had the courage to pursue a novel idea, grounded in a perception of changing needs for a different era. During the days of the energy crisis, he envisioned a shift to large sailing luxury yachts, and intended to built such a boat.

The section on the Marketing Approach used by CSY to start the production of these boats is typical of the business model used by Van Ost to develop new models. A similar approach was used to start the CSY 44 walk-through model. These boats were sold from design plans, before the first boat was ever launched.
